The Shafer Family: Trip to Grandma and Papa's

Friday, the nurse from the doctor the discharged Elijah at the hospital called and said that Elijah had to get his bloodwork redone because the tests came back inconclusive on all tests... she said "i dont' want to worry you but they all came back inconclusive... it could mean they just didn't get enough blood for the sample."

Ummm how do you NOT worry the mother of a 10 day old when you call and tell her that the genetic bloodwork tests that you were running came back inconclusive?!

So matt and I took him to the hospital 10 minutes before the lab closed (boy were they pleasant that we came in so late-- we went right after the nurse called-- it's not our fault the timing worked out that way!)

We found out that he had gained 4 oz in 3 days, so that was the good news of the night...

We are still waiting on the results... hopefully everything comes out normal.

We were supposed to leave for my parents house on Friday night, but after the ordeal at the hosptial it was already 8pm, and it's a 2.5 hour trip to my parents house, and everyone was exhausted so we decided to leave saturday morning

I had the best intentions of getting up early with Elijahs morning feeding and getting on the road, but for once he slept until 8am... so i guess it was fate-- everyone was well rested for the trip to the grandparents house!!

Elijah got to meet his only cousin Madison! It was really fun to see them interact with each other. Madison would make a GREAT big sister.

Baby hog... er... Auntie Jill and Uncle Chad come over in the afternoon to visit too. Great Grandma DeKam came too so it was cool to have 3 generations in the same room!!

Papa and Elijah seem to like each other...

Madison was good for most of the day, but I think she started to get jealous of pictures being taken of Elijah because "Aren't you going to take pictures of me" became one of Madison's favorite questions as the day went on
